OUR IMPACT ON NATURE

HOW WE GROW

We follow organic principles (without certification), meaning no chemical fertilisers or pesticides.

We use regenerative growing techniques like companion planting, green manure, crop rotation and minimising soil disturbance.

Our feral cat Madeline adopted from Cat Protection is playing a massive role in pest control and keeping our crops save.

Our focus is simple: leave our soil, and all the living things that rely on it, in better shape than we found it.

We have 14 compost bays and a somewhat working composting system in place to maximise the amount of compost made on-site to feed the soil. We also have a compost loo on site.

A lot of our compost ingredients are coming from the local area that otherwise would have gone to landfill. Thanks to our neighbours we receive horse manure, local tree surgeons deliver us woodchip and Loaf Bakery is providing us with their own bread compost from bio waste processor. All of that goes into our compost and then back into the soil to support young plants with nutrients.

We also work alongside Hive Helpers, a beekeeping and conservation CIC based at the farm. They support pollinators, manage hedgerows, and care for the wild spaces around our growing areas.
